What

Txal ('teks'əl) is a SMS alarm service--it's teh interweb version of tying a string on your finger! Remind yourself to pick something up on the way home, go check your laundry, or maybe to check on your KD in the kitchen before it bursts into flames (yes, I have had this happen!)

Basically, you create an alert that has a message and time. Once that time rolls around, the message is dequeued from this site and pushed onto the SMS network, and then *buzz* *beep* *beep* your cell rings and you have a nice reminder!

Why

Why not? I'm forgetful and already find it useful. I assume other people are forgetful. Therefore, this site is awesome10. No, make that awesomen, where n is the value of awesome. Yeah, that's right.

I guess I also kind of created this to bump my geek status. I mean, who hasn't wanted a site that sends them text messages? Linking together different technologies is fun!

How

It's all done through the magic of the Internet (and I guess the SMS message centers around the world help too). This site acts as a gateway between the Internet and the SMS network that mobile phones use.

Who

I am Jon Langmaid, and I created this. I like working on side projects to give my mind a break from my normal day job at ContingencyWorks.
